Chapter 01: Introduction
The Mission
The recipe for discipline. The antidote to procrastination. The method to start a business. It all begins from here.
I imagine that you may be in the same case as of me. You’re letting irrelevant and time-consuming interests take your valuable time to create and innovate something special. Way too many hours on your phone scrolling your day away. Trust me, I know everything about it. You wake up in the morning scrolling TikTok. You sit on the bathroom scrolling on Instagram. Every chance you get, you’ll spend it on the phone. And finally, when you start doing something useful or even thinking about something that could be beneficial for your personal development, the slightest of distraction will take that willpower away from you.
Maybe, it is not our phones or other distractions that is keeping us from creating and innovating. Maybe the use of social media is just the byproduct of something deeper. Maybe I have a difficult time creating something because of being fearful of failure. What if it doesn’t work out? And to be honest, I might even be anxious to what others might think in case of failure. Thirdly, I am procrastinating because I don’t really know how to start. I am sure that in my case, all three reasons are valid, and my procrastinating behavior is a result of these reasons. And so to escape starting, I do everything else, but start.
So why will this be a turning point? I will be attending my fifth semester in Copenhagen Business School, where I am enrolled following courses:
Entrepreneurial Strategy
Entrepreneurial Finance
Psychology of Entrepreneurship
Language of Negotiation
All of these courses, in combination, gives the insights on how to start a start-up purposely and with the correct choices, how to account for any costs related to start-ups, the personality traits which is often to be found in entrepreneurs and lastly how you negotiate and influence with individuals.
According to one of the laws in Steve Bartlett’s book, you have to teach something in order to master it.
